On Crash Override Network
So many people are Tweeting TFYC and @TFYCapitalists at Crash Override Network, which is in their own words, is
Crash Override is a support network and assistance group for victims and targets of unique forms of online harassment,
The criticism toward Crash Override Network seems to be that both of the founding members of the organization had some relatively colorful things to say about Matt.
An example being
@alexlifschitz - My suggestions for TFYC? Get a spokesperson who’s less harebrained/slimy and will actually be true to the principles of your organization.
And our response to this has been, we really don’t care if they want to run this organization. If anything there seems to be a lot of interest in the space. Multiple members of TFYC have worked in not for profits dealing ether directly or indirectly with harassment and its incredibly draining to actual deal with people who need help. We would prefer not to return to it.
The Fine Young Capitalists, as our mission statement says
The Fine Young Capitalists’ mission is to create media using underrepresented labour, for unexplored demographics to fund non-profit organizations.
To this mission we’ve done our Woman’s in Gaming production, and we worked with the Porn Charity to create a scholarship fund for STEM.
There is this line in the not for profit world at the moment called “Stop Trying to Change The World,” and it comes from an article by Michael Hobbes of the same name which you can read here
The thesis of the article is we need to focus on smaller solutions, targeted at individual communities, than trying to find a magic bullet to solve incredibly large and complicated problems.
By its design TFYC targets problem in new ways and focus on achieving small goals that can hopefully be repeated with others.
Some of our ideas might not work, SNless would be an example, and some of them work better than expected, The Porn Charity for example was amazing but that was mostly due to the effectiveness of Mercedes Carrera work. And we are happy in that space, we are happy that some people don’t agree with the way we do thing, and also happy that some due.
Thank you for your support but we can fight our own battles.
